Thomas LeClair receives the Archie Nelson Inspirational Award from Eric Nelson

This past week Thomas Leclair was awarded the Archie Nelson Inspirational Award for leadership and motivation of  fellow 4-H and FFA dairy youth.

Archie Nelson went to work for All West Breeders in 1964 as a sire analyst, and shortly thereafter was named General Manager. Archie, along with a great crew of board members and dedicated staff built a small All West Breeders, into All West/Select Sires, which is now the largest and according to him the “best damn A.I. organization in the West”.  Archie was a nationally recognized dairy cattle judge, having judged numerous local, state, and national and international dairy shows. He had the distinct honor of judging the Central National Holstein Show in 1976. He also judged the Australian National Holstein show in Melbourne, in 1981. He was a lifetime member of the National Holstein Association, the Washington State Holstein Association, and the national and state Purebred Dairy Cattle Association. Archie was inducted into the Washington State Purebred Dairy Cattle Association “Hall of Fame” in 1984. He was also named “Mr. Holstein” by the Washington State Holstein Association in 1981.

The Archie Nelson Inspirational Award is awarded each year to an outstanding Skagit County youth who shows leadership and motivation to fellow 4-H and FFA dairy producers
