"The
Bovine Beacon is designed for all dairies, large and small,
and will adapt easily to most management plans. I believe
the Bovine Beacon can make the dairy industry a more profitable
business by detecting more heats, lowering conception ratios
and increasing the productive life of cows."
Kevin Herriott, Dairy Farmer and Creator of the Bovine Beacon,
Meridian, Idaho

How
to use the Bovine Beacon
Follow these few simple steps to ensure proper operation of
the Bovine Beacon.
1: Placement 2: Tab Location 3: Glue Beads
1.The Bovine Beacon is designed to be applied directly over
the cow's backbone between the hip and pin bones. Examine
this location on the cow. If necessary, curry the area to
remove dirt and loose hair. Under wet or rainy conditions,
dry the area before applying the Bovine Beacon.
2.Locate
and grip the TAB.
3.Turn
the Bovine Beacon upside down, and apply beads of glue to
the cloth. Each Bovine Beacon is packaged with a glue applicator.
Use only the glue that is provided with the Bovine Beacon.
4.Place
the Bovine Beacon, glue-side down, on the backbone, between
the hip and pin bones with the tab facing the tail.
5.Press
down on the cloth edges of the Bovine Beacon to work the glue
into the hair.
Visually inspect each cow that has a Bovine Beacon twice a
day at 12 hour intervals, or more often if possible. The Bovine
Beacon will activate after only one riding.
Note: To reduce false activations with the BOVINE BEACON
Standing Heat Indicator, prevent cow contact with low hanging
branches, back scratchers, cattle oilers, etc. Also use care
with "can't kick" devices to avoid false activation.
