Utresept

Utresept Intra Uterine Flush is a new all natural product of organic origin. Its properties are in part like an antibiotic and part antiseptic. The advantages of Utresept are many, being non toxic, food safe, hypoallergenic and non corrosive. Utresept has a prolonged residual effect, requires no rinsing and unlike many conventional antiseptics its action is not depleted by contact with organic material. UtreseptÕs anti microbial power is due to a synergistic action created by a reaction between natural organic acids and natural sugars. When Utresept is introduced into the uterus these natural organic acids and sugars combine with those naturally present in the animal to create a powerful and lasting anti-microbial effect. This gives Utresept its unique physical and biological properties. Retained fetal membranes and uterine infections in dairy cows result in substantial costs to the dairy industry. These conditions impair subsequent fertility, reduce milk production and often require veterinary treatment. The uterus is the part of the reproductive tract that supports the growth of the embryo and fetus.

When the uterus is infected, fertilization and survival of the embryo is reduced. Immediately after calving, bacteria and other organisms can be found in the uterus. However, over the next six weeks, healthy cows remove these microbes, resulting in an uninfected uterus. When this process fails or is delayed, abnormal uterine infection occurs.

Standard treatment for uterine infections include infusion with antibiotics and or antiseptics such as iodine. Antiseptics have the advantage of not leaving residues in the meat or milk. however many antiseptics are corrosive and can irritate the lining of the uterus and depress natural uterine defenses against infection.

Antibiotics, while effective, result in unsaleable milk which can be extremely costly. Utresept on the other hand can be used in a prophylactic program with complete confidence. Its use will not irritate the uterine lining and there is no withdrawal of milk incurred.

Utresept is packaged in 500 ml (16 oz) bottles as a concentrated product which is mixed with sterile water at the rate of five parts water to one part Utresept. The average flush amount given to dairy cows is 60 mls (2 oz) per flush. In the case of Utresept 10 mls of the product plus 50 mls of sterile water will give the required amount. Some herdsmen use 100 mls (3 oz) per flush on difficult cases with good results. Evidence suggests that where Utresept is used in a regular uterine health program i.e. flushing after each calving, there has been an increase in first service conception rates.
