MICROMANAGER
Milk Replacer Microbials
for Healthier Calves
What
is it?
- A probiotic
product that contains Enterococcus faecium M74. A lactic
acid producing bacteria which is beneficial when introduced
into the intestinal tract of an animal.
- Enterococcus
faecium M74 is supplied in a freeze-dried viable form. Enterococcus
faecium M74 is activated by the moist warm environment of
the digestive tract
- Enterococcus
faecium M74 also produces metabolites which have antimicrobial
properties

|
When
is it used?
- To
help lower the pH of the GI-tract through the production
of lactic acid. This assists the animal in counteracting
the effects of environmental disturbances which can affect
performance.
- To
help restore the proper bacterial balance in the digestive
tract. M74 reproduces itself quickly, thus crowding out
potentially undesirable organisms.
- Use
with or immediately following antibiotic therapy to inoculate
the digestive tract with beneficial lactic acid producing
bacteria.
- Each
gram (approximately 1/4 teaspoon) of Quick start provides
2,000,000,000 colony forming units (CFU).
Quick
Start For Healthy Calves
When added to the milk replacer, Quick Start inoculates the
intestinal tract with good bacteria which Òcrowds outÓ
harmful pathogens. This action promotes an aggressive healthy
animal with improved digestion and appetite. Research has
shown that adding Quick Start to the milk replacer can be
extremely effective in improving weight gain and feed intake
in calves.
It can be mixed with milk replacer, water or in the feed.
It can be used with antibiotics or as a replacement for antibiotics
in healthy calves.
Care should be taken that water or milk replacer temperature
should not exceed 110 degrees in the mixing process. Mix the
water and milk replacer before adding Quick Start.
For best results give 4 grams (1 teaspoon) to newborn calves
as soon as possible. After the initial treatment, 1 gram (1/4
teaspoon) per day is all that is required to maintain a healthy
intestinal tract and the cost is only 2.8¢ per day.
