As dairy producers and member/owners of an A.I. cooperative, you are well aware that change is inevitable in this industry. Whether we have new young sires graduating in to our lineup, old legendary bulls retiring from their careers, fluctuating milk and feed prices, or the various weather each season brings, the one constant is that nothing stays the same forever.

For the past five years, this section of our monthly DiamondCuts e-newletter was dedicated to Karen Wheatley’s insightful and relatable editorial features. However, a change occurred this month. It is bittersweet to announce that our former All West/Select Sires Director of Communications and Marketing, Karen Wheatley, worked her final day with us on April 12, 2019. Karen is now officially employed by Premier Select Sires in the newly created role of Manager of Employee Development, Training, & Engagement.

Our favorite East Coast leader ventured to the West Coast in pursuit of working in a true family environment. With an impressive resume of vast communication skills and years of dairy industry experience, Karen was confident in taking on the task of developing a communications department for our cooperative. Karen created content for many platforms, thoroughly planned company events, developed several extensive training programs, and much more! We will miss Karen’s ever-present smile, always optimistic outlook, and positive attitude on our team.

“I can’t begin to express my thanks to my All West family! I had always admired the spirit of the west and for five, quick years, I got to live it as well. I love the friendships that I’ve made, the goals we accomplished and the customers that I’ve had the great fortune to work with. There were so many road trips and so much laughter along the way – along with so many great cows! All West was lifechanging for me. I’m so glad I got to be part of this great family and am looking forward to keeping in touch within the Select Sires group. Thank you!” – Karen

As we bid farewell to Karen, we welcome Mackenzie Gomes to take on the new role of Manager of Communications! Mackenzie joined All West as our Marketing Associate in October 2016 following a summer internship she completed with Karen. This dairy girl from Willows, CA quickly became a vital part of the All West family, not only because of her tremendous talent, but also because of her hard-working, can-do attitude.

Mackenzie has a fantastic sense of organization, along with talents including video and photography skills. She has grown professionally in the short time that she’s been with us, and has also made a great impact on her co-workers and customers in California. As she organizes her time with her new responsibilities, we expect that she’ll be traveling to Washington and Oregon more, meeting and working with our exceptional team members and customers in those areas.

Your All West/Select Sires Communications and Marketing Team will continue to provide you with the most up-to-date news and information in every way we can. Please direct any urgent questions or concerns to Mackenzie Gomes and do not hesitate to reach out with your requests and suggestions.

Although this transition is bittersweet, we are excited for the potential that this change has for both Karen and Mackenzie. We thank Karen for her years of passion, dedication, and friendship and wish nothing but the best for her and her family, as she begins her new career with Premier Select Sires.
