If you are familiar with the already popular Western Classic Junior Dairy Show which takes place in Hanford, California each spring, you will be happy to hear there is an additional youth dairy show coming to All West Territory!

The first annual Western Dairy Showcase is set to take place in Turlock, California at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds on August 12-15, 2021. The idea of hosting this dairy show was born from the cancellation of most fairs and shows in California, beginning in 2020, as a result of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions. This is when a group of local, dedicated, dairy enthusiasts, saw a true need to continue allowing Junior exhibitors to showcase their hard work in the show ring.

Committee member, Lori Marchy, shared, “Unfortunately, our dairy youth do not have as many opportunities as other livestock showmen to attend jackpot shows often, and adding the pandemic restrictions placed on our larger shows like California State Fair and Cow Palace, youth dairy show options have become very limited. We are looking to fill this void with Western Dairy Showcase.”

Understanding the importance of such events as livestock and dairy shows and their positive impact on the development of our youth, these dairy families decided to come together to host what they hope will become an annual event.

“This event will allow Junior dairy exhibitors an opportunity to show off their dairy projects in a competitive atmosphere, all the while competing for the chance to earn scholarships and cash prizes,” shared Lori.

Entries will officially open online on July 1, 2021 and must be submitted by August 1, 2021. This event is open to anyone considered a “Junior” in the United States, based on the guidelines described by each of the breed organizations. A complete list of exhibitor guidelines can be found here.  The show committee is looking forward to welcoming Judge Nathan Thomas to California from Ohio.

With the uncertainty of the California State Fair, Western Dairy Showcase will also be adding the All California Jersey Show to their August event. A complete schedule of all Western Dairy Showcase events can be found here.

As you may assume, the success of a show of this magnitude is one that cannot be achieved alone. The generous support of many businesses, individuals, and families will allow this show to be filled with fun and memories, as well as being educational, for all who attend.

“In order, for this event to continue, we are currently seeking donations to help offset the costs of running the event, such as rental of the fairgrounds, a judge, awards, and an exhibitor BBQ to be held on Saturday evening,” said Lori. “The event will be run in a professional manner by a group of volunteers who have experience not only in the show ring, but in the organization and implementation of such an event. Our donors will be recognized on all of our social media platforms leading up to the event, in addition to ringside banners, and will be announced throughout the event by our master of ceremonies.” For more information about becoming a sponsor, please click here.

The show committee includes many successful local dairy enthusiasts, All West customers and friends, and even All West Executive Committee member, Johnny Machado and his wife, Maggie. To view who else is dedicating their time and energy to this event, click here.
