All West/Select Sires is pleased to announce that Tony De Mello has accepted the newly-created position of All West/Select Sires Dairy Marketing Director. Tony’s first day in this new role is April 1, 2022.
Tony has already been a valuable All West/Select Sires team member for over 20 years, during which his role has expanded into evaluations, sales, marketing, and more.
“I have enjoyed the past 20 years doing many different jobs for All West from PGA, to SMS, to sales. My favorite part has always been working with member-owners to help them face the challenges of the modern dairy industry by breeding great cows and preparing them with the cows of tomorrow,” said Tony. “In my new role, I hope to increase my availability to my fellow team members and our customers to help them access the great genetics that All West and Select Sires have to offer.”
Tony’s family purchased a dairy in the Turlock area in 1969. His great love for dairy cattle began at a young age, as he spent much of his time learning about registered cattle from his father, grandfather and Godfather. Tony began participating in 4-H and FFA as soon as possible as an active showman and dairy cattle judging participant, which he continued to do while attending Merced Junior College. Upon graduating from college, Tony went on to breed numerous Very Good and Excellent cows for himself and many others throughout the world and also had bulls go in to the A.I. industry. His experience and expertise allowed him to judge many shows, including international events in 12 different counties around the world.
In the early 1990’s, Tony began his career in the A.I. industry as a young sire program coordinator and international dairy specialist, traveling the world to promote U.S. dairy genetics. He then went on to become a sire analyst. He was hired by All West/Select Sires in 2002 and has since successfully held several titles including PGA Coordinator, Dairy Program Specialist, Sales Representative, and now Dairy Marketing Director.
In addition to Tony’s role and duties as a Sales Representative, this new role will allow him to assist our team in identifying sires to sell in our west coast market based on the needs of our customers. Tony will also be more involved in marketing the sires in our lineup by offering input regarding our various printed and digital resources.
“I am pleased to announce that in addition to Tony’s role as an All West/Select Sires Sales Representative, he will also be taking on the role of Dairy Marketing Director for All West/Select Sires,” said Rory White, All West/Select Sires General Manager/CEO. “Tony has over 40 years of experience marketing dairy genetics around the globe and this background will be an asset to All West to identify the proper bulls for our west coast market. If you need help finding a dairy sire to use in your herd, Tony is your man.”
Tony is a well-respected member of the dairy community and the All West Family and we are certain he will serve as a valuable leader, as well. We look forward to the further assistance Tony will now be providing to our team and our member/owners alike.
