In September, the All West/Select Sires Board of Directors had their final meeting before the upcoming merge. Besides making important decisions for the future of the new Select Sires Member Cooperative, the gentlemen also took the time to formally recognize and honor All West Board Secretary Christine Watters for her years of service.

Chris was raised on a dairy farm in western Washington and graduated from Washington State University with a degree in Horticulture. For the next 25 years, she was the owner/operator of Trinity Farms, a 450 cow Holstein Dairy in Vancouver. Her commitment to the dairy industry continued as she spent countless hours involved in 4-H, FFA, dairy shows, dairy women’s booths, and other dairy industry organizations.

Chris was hired as the All West/Select Sires Board Secretary by our Executive Committee in July 2011. Having been actively involved in agriculture and the dairy industry her entire life, Chris understood our business and quickly proved to be a great addition to our cooperative.

Chris faithfully traveled and attended countless All West meetings throughout our territory and beyond and never ceased to amaze our board and staff with her quick and accurate meeting minute recording, always handwritten first, then typed.

All West was fortunate to have extremely dedicated board secretaries for nearly 80 years. Ken Fredlund was elected secretary at the third Annual Meeting of All West in 1944 and served in that role for over 45 years. He was followed by Don Steffen and Dick Coon, who served for 10 years and then Shandi Smith, who served from 2004 until Chris was hired as the fifth and final secretary for the cooperative.

Chris has been added to our All West Legacy plaques as an honorary retiree. We thank her for dedicating her time, professionalism, attention to detail and friendly personality to All West for 12 years!
